Mail slot to measure the thickness of cards

All week I have been driving with a card to be mailed on the dash of my car. I wanted to pop by a post office to see if I needed extra postage due to it being a bit thick. I often run into this trouble with any embellishments I add, such as ribbon, pop dots, brads etc. The lovely lady at the post office has explained to me that the extra postage will ensure that my card does not get ripped in the sorting machine.

Last night, I realized I should make my own measuring slot based on the dimensions set by Canada Post.

This was such a quick project! I should have made one years ago. (I could have avoided my ribbon issue with the christmas cards of 2011. Lol.)

I used my Gypsy to create the slot but you could easily just use a paper trimmer. All prices and dimensions are on the Canada Post website and United States Postal Service website. Of course, while I was using the Gypsy, I figured it would be cute to recreate the Canada Post logo. The mailbox is from the Mickey and Friends Cricut cartridge. I would use chipboard to make a slot or mat cardstock multiple times.

When I measured the card, it slid right through the slot. No extra postage needed!

Have a great day!

Hockey dreams - Winnipeg Jets layout

My son has won a contest, he will be on the ice during the national anthems at an NHL hockey game holding the Canadian flag.

We are all so excited for him!

I have even made this layout for a future picture from that night.

I created the hockey logo with my Gypsy using many basic shapes from the George Cricut cartridge. The skate is a brad purchased at my LSS. The hockey paper is by Karen Foster.

My shopping thoughts about hockey scrapbook paper is when I see, I buy it because there is not too much of it around and my son has now been playing hockey for six years.

That's a lot of hockey layouts!

Have a wonderful day!

A call for thank you cards

In December, I wrote a blog post about another crafty blogger. I talked about crafters who create on the go and I gave examples such as those who make cards from hospital bedsides. This was not a random example, I was writing about

WorkinScrappinMomof4.

She would make thank you cards while sitting with her husband during his chemotherapy treatments. That entire post and projects were because I thought of her trying to make cards to thank those who were helping her family during her husband's illness. It saddens me to say that her husband lost his battle with cancer last week. Here is the link to his

obituary.

Debbie is a sweet lady with four young children. I cannot believe she still was making cards through all of this. She would like to give out more thank you cards to all of her support. I am going to mail off some I have in my stash and would like to pass on her address if anyone else is interested.

Here is my post that is secretly about her

Thank you so much and have a great day!

St. Patrick's Day layout

Hello, March the first! Why not use up some green scraps this month and make a St. Patrick's Day layout?
