Memorial Day challenge - honouring our vets

Creative Cutter has a great challenge on right now to honour our vets. This challenge came up just at the right time for me! A neighbour is retiring from the Canadian Military after many years of service.

For this card I tried to make a picture of him at work. The helicopter, figure and clothing are all from the Everyday Paper Dolls cartridge. The camouflage paper is by Creative Imaginations. The sky paper is a scrap from my pile. The maple leaf is from the Destinations cartridge and the cloud is from Create a Critter. The stamped face is by Peachy Keen and I covered the helicopter to look like glass with Glossy Accents.

I am also entering this card at Fantabulous Cricut for their sky and cloud challenge.

Quick cards for the school lunch monitors

I was using cardstock provided by the school so I wanted to make simple cards that I could put together in bulk. Of course I had to add some of my own paper from the Grade School stack by DCWV. These are the first nine I completed.

I used my Gypsy to hide some cuts on the lunch box so I could put the sentiment on top of it.

Radish/soccer layout

I know, it's a strange combination...

For this layout, I used paper from the DCWV Market Garden stack. The journaling tags are from the stack as well. The radish is from the Just Because Cards Cricut cartridge and the font is Birthday Bash. Everything is inked with brown ink.

DD's card for me

Things have been busy around my house lately. We had my grandmother staying with us to escape the flooding in her town. So when my daugher handed me my invitation to her school volunteer appreciation tea, I didn't really notice her drawings. The next day, I looked closer and realized that she drew the things I do for her and her school.

She drew a school bus ( I walk her to the bus every day), a pizza ( because I volunteer for pizza lunch), she drew a Cricut ( because I often cut things for the school), she drew my bulletin board which you can see here and she drew a cracker to represent bringing special snacks.

So sweet!

NSD challenge #4 for me

It's almost midnight and here I am finishing up a layout. This layout is for challenge # 7 at The Pink Stamper.

My daughter loves all things penguin-related. The picture for this layout is of her in her penguin pyjamas holding her penguin stuffies. I'm so glad I scrapped this phase of her life so I don't forget it.

My third NSD challenge

My son has been asking me to cut this monster from Mini-Monsters for months. I thought I could turn this creature into a birthday card.

I am entering this card at The Pink Stamper. Her final challenge is to create a kid project.

My creature and phrase are cuttlebugged but it doesn't show very well.

My largest card - 6.5 feet by 3.5 feet.

Staff appreciation week starts tomorrow at DD's school. I snuck in and made this bulletin board so that when the staff arrives in the morning this will greet them. Each of the flowers' stem has the name of a staff member written on it. My children go to French Immersion school, hence the merci banner.

This was the process at home on my (almost the same dimensions) dining room table.. I used many, many cartridges and kicked myself for not borrowing a copy of Walk in my Garden. My little "helpers" were getting impatient making this bulletin board so I neglected adding the leaves to the sunflower stems. Whenever I look at the picture, the flowers look a wee bit naked.

NSD 2011 challenge #2 for me

Here is another BINGO challenge from the website Crafting for Caitlyn. My 3 elements are - die cut (Cricut), dimension (Action Wobble), and ink.

These challenges were super fun! Another challenge was to upcycle. I used scraps for both cards. I even used the same patterned paper scraps.

NSD 2011 challenge #1

I found this challenge at Crafting for Caitlyn . For this challenge you had to make a bingo with certain design elements. My 3 elements are - No flowers, No bling, No pink.

If you are expecting a Mother's Day card from me don't read this post

This card is to enter at Fantabulous Cricut. Their challenge this week is to use at least three flowers on a project.

This card is not original for sure. I have seen a few variations of flowers in a vase this week. The watering can is from the Freshly Picked Cricut cartridge and the sentiment is from Holiday Cakes. The flowers are from Plantin Schoolbook but many, many cartridges have similar flowers you could use.. The flowers have been embossed with the Polka Dots folder and I used glue dots to adhere the buttons. The stems are rick rack ribbon.

I will warn you though that this type of card requires 3 times the postage because of the pop dots and buttons!

Odds and ends

My husband enjoys making wine and every year we go to a wine tasting party. I made these tags so that everyone will know our wine even when they pull it off their rack months from now. I invented a fictional winery name playing on our family name and neighbourhood just to be funny. The barrel is from the Old West cartridge and the font is from Blackletter.

This is a birthday card for an 11 year old snowboard enthusiast. This was my first cut with the Dude Cricut cartridge. I'm so glad I bought it for my son's cards and such.

On Friday, I got to host a ladies group at my house to teach a beginner card-making class. This is the sample card we made. I used Freshly Picked for the potted flowers and Holiday Cakes for the sentiment. I had fun and I hope they did too.
